By John Pearce
This is a scratch built replica model in 16mm scale of “Exeter” station, that was part of my previous Gibbergunyah Railway that I completed in 1995. The actual station is on the main Southern line between Sydney and Melbourne, and is heritage listed.
The overall length of the model is 1500mm or 5 foot. The boards are pine, glued to a sub bases of MDF. The corrugated roof I made out of .03mm aluminium damp course, which I cut to size and then clamped in a sandwich die, made from aluminium step tread.
I like it, a true to scale faithful replica of the prototype.
A lovely piece of modelling, John, and immediately recognizable to anyone who used to travel on the main south!
Is it possible to show a pic of your die for making corrugated iron, I need lots of it for my South African layout?
Hi Jamie, Send me your email & I’ll send a photo with a description.
