Southdown (Sam is also talking to some 16mm modular layout people and see below).
The object of this event is to provide a working, live steam display of road vehicles in various scales and from historic manufacturers. Any vehicle is welcome from traction engines to steam rollers and of course the popular steam lorries. There will also be the regular addition of the scale working area and some awning displays. Inside the running shed and the interesting Statfold Museum, there will be various displays of model engineering, toy steam, fairground models and Southdown, a 16mm live steam layout. There are expected to be around 90 engines at the event. As well as the event, the impressive narrow gauge steam railway will be operating an intensive service with four or five locomotives in action. The railway offers a round trip behind a historic steam engine which most likely worked on the other side of the world! There will be at least two full size traction engines joining the line-up for this event. These allow the public to compare the difference in scale between the 12in examples and their miniature counterparts. The big engines will be drawn from the Statfold Collection which includes a wide variety of steam engines of all shapes, types and sizes, though we may well invite a visiting full size engine too.
