Welcome to the Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers

Local Groups

Local Group MeetingMembers across the UK and elsewhere get together in local area groups. These may be formal or informal or just ad-hoc gatherings as suits the particpants.

Local groups typically have their own schedule of meetings and open days often based round each others' garden railways. Details of these meetings are circulated in our quarterly newsletter and events listing called "Bulletin".

These are very popular steaming and social events, a place to get together with like minded people, exchange gossip, seek and give advice and generally enjoy ourselves. Much tea is drunk and many photographs are taken, some to appear in our full colour quarterly magazine "16mm Today".

There are now over 50 local area groups in the UK, with overseas groups in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Norway. Many have their own web sites, these are listed at the bottom of this page.

Below is a map of the Area Groups that are active in the UK (zoom and pan around the map then click on a pin to find a local contacts name), each Group organises programmes of meetings, open days and other events. We even have a Group based in the Shetland Isles - you will have to pan north a fair way on the map to find that one! If you wish to contact a local group you may do so by telephoning the numbers shown for each Area Representative in the membership database or you can e-mail: area.groups@16mm.org.uk

Please use consideration when telephoning any area contact - early evenings and weekends only please
