The Model of the Year Competition 2006

The MOTY is open to all members – provided you are the builder of the model !! There are categories for all types of 16mm models and all skill levels, from the junior modeller to the hoary old expert. Categories in 2006 will be:

The Masters Trophy

The Masters Trophy is for previous winners of the Jack Wheldon Memorial Trophy. Mike Dockery likes 'em big and 'Eccentrica' is, most certainly, that! Very aptly named after a character from 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', this superb beast won the trophy in 2005.

Roundhouse Trophy

– Models incorporating “Roundhouse” parts.

Imp Models Trophy

– Models incorporating “Imp Models” parts.

Butterley Trophy

– Battery powered, internal combustion outline locomotives.

Andrew Neale Challenge Trophy

– All locomotives not eligible for another class – battery powered steam outline, fireless, overhead electric, compressed air …?

Lineside Trophy

– Buildings, trackwork, motor vehicles …

The Lineside Trophy is for buildings, trackwork, motor vehicles, indeed anything at the side of the line. Charles firth won it in 2005 with his row of shops.

Rolling Stock Trophy

The Rolling Stock Trophy is, well, for rolling stock! Charles Firth's machine shop train was winner in 2005 - a delightfully atmospheric model.

Jones Cup

– Any type of model. The winner will have the right mix of skill, ingenuity and low cunning.

Junior Cup

– Any model built by a member under 18. Entries are also entered in the appropriate class above.

Loan Section

– Non competitive. Models not yet finished, 7/8” scale, whatever.

Judging takes place at the 16mm Association National Garden Railway Show each year. Entry is free and models will be accepted in the next competition until 12 noon on 1 April 2006. Please contact the MOTY organiser, Neil Bowden, at moty.organiser@16mm.org.uk if you need more information.
